Southern Pages opened its timber doors on Chapel Street with a bold mission: to foster a love of reading across generations. What began as a cosy nook with a few hundred titles has evolved into a literary labyrinth of more than 25,000 carefully curated books. From the scent of freshly ground coffee drifting from our reading corner to the handwritten staff picks wall, every detail is designed to make you linger.

  1. 1998: Doors open with just two aisles and boundless enthusiasm.
  2. 2008: Rare Books Room unveiled, housing signed first editions & antiquarian finds.

Every month our reading groups gather after hours to dive deep into genres:

  • Classics Circle – rediscover Austen & Tolstoy
  • Crime Club – from cosy mysteries to Nordic noir
  • Sci-Fi Salon – big ideas & bigger universes
  • Kids’ Saturday Club – stories & craft for ages 6-10

Members receive a 10 % discount and discussion guides prepared by our staff librarians.

Through our Schools Partnership we donate one new book to each local classroom every term – totalling 3,200 books in 2023.
